January 2022 Update
Annual General Meeting 2022.
The GRTPA held their first AGM in post CoViD times as West Midlands Police HQ, Lloyd House in Birmingham on Monday 24th January 2022.
Some members were able to attend in person, and the meeting was streamed via the Microsoft Teams platform so that there were over 110 members and interested parties connected in.
The meeting was opened by GRTPA Co-Director Martin Campbell, who is a serving officer with Cheshire Police.
We were privileged to have a presentation from Dominique Walker, lecturer at the School of Justice Studies at Liverpool John Moores University entitled "Not White Enough".
It was a compelling input and covered some of the academically published evidence about inequalities and persecution of Gypsies, Travellers & Roma historically.
The presentation also included some recommendations for us as an Association to consider.
Also presenting at the AGM was Andy George from the National Black Police Association and Claire Rice from GATE Herts.
We thank all those for attending, and heartily thank West Midlands Police for hosting the physically attendees.
As we near our 10th anniversary as an association, we are looking at possibilities for other events to get the membership together.
